Determination to bring the Long Phu 1 Thermal Power Plant Project to the finish line on schedule

Petrovietnam General Director Le Manh Cuong requested the Long Phu 1 Petroleum Power Project Management Board (Long Phu 1 PMB) and contractors to enhance coordination, ensure labor safety, and show strong determination to bring the Long Phu 1 Thermal Power Plant (TPP) Project to the finish line on schedule.

On August 6, Petrovietnam General Director Le Manh Cuong chaired a working session with the Long Phu 1 PMB and contractors regarding the project implementation status. The meeting was attended by Petrovietnam Deputy General Director Phan Tu Giang and representatives from the Group's specialized departments.

Reporting at the meeting, Mr. Ha Dinh Nien, Head of the Long Phu 1 PMB, stated that the majority of the project's work packages have been contracted and are currently under construction at the site. The PMB and contractors are focusing resources on various items, basically adhering to the proposed plan.

The contract for the turbine-generator equipment package of the plant has been signed. All parties are maximizing their resources, prioritizing the delivery of critical equipment to the site in accordance with the installation sequence.

The Long Phu 1 PMB also reported on the implementation status of items on the critical path and solutions to overcome obstacles. The PMB recommended that Petrovietnam, the Group's specialized departments, and contractors coordinate to remove difficulties and ensure the project reaches its finish line as planned.

During the meeting, Petrovietnam Deputy General Director Phan Tu Giang exchanged views and provided directions on several issues related to construction personnel, housing areas for officials and workers, and the handling of project equipment.

Concluding the meeting, Petrovietnam General Director Le Manh Cuong expressed his delight at the urgent and bustling construction atmosphere on site, with multiple contractors simultaneously deploying various work fronts. The General Director noted that units must pay special attention to labor safety, as safety is the foundation of professionalism.

Assessing that the project is showing positive changes, the General Director shared the difficulties faced by the PMB and contractors during the implementation process. He urged all parties to continue their efforts and complete the project according to the plan.

According to Petrovietnam's General Director, in project management, progress is the top requirement and a metric reflecting the results of the entire implementation process. Therefore, the PMB and related parties must focus on maintaining schedule, proactively proposing necessary solutions and mechanisms for the Group to review and handle in the spirit of maximum support.

The General Director agreed with the PMB's proposal to apply certain mechanisms to shorten procedures and the time required for selecting contractors to handle arising tasks. He emphasized that decentralization must be accompanied by inspection, supervision, and post-audit mechanisms to prevent the shifting of responsibilities.

The General Director also requested participating parties to enhance coordination to ensure consistency in task execution and completion of related documentation, facilitating the review and resolution of difficulties and obstacles by competent authorities.

Regarding proposals and recommendations from the Long Phu 1 PMB and contractors on personnel mobilization, welfare regimes, and related contents, the General Director provided specific directions and handling methods, creating favorable conditions for units to effectively execute work and bring the Long Phu 1 TPP Project to the finish line on schedule.
